Hello everyone. I'm Scott Potucek. I'm a 6th Generation descendant of John and Marie Potucek from Northern Minnesota. A distant cousin of Paul Potucek who I notice has written on this blog a couple of times already. My wife Janel and I have 2 sons Charle and Joseph Potucek and live near Minneapolis, MN now. We would love to plan a trip to the Czech Republic and maybe reconnect with relatives. She's been to Prague before and from her description i cannot wait to go myself. Thanks everyone for your blogs and I hope we can grow this site.

Hello, Everyone!

I'm the youngest daughter of Carol Potucek Nowacki, who commented above. Our family's traditional Christmas Eve dinner has always included a sweet bread we call "buchtykees." While our Czech pronunciation and spelling of the bread may have changed throughout the years, this particular recipe has been handed down for generations (or at least since the time of John and Marie in northern Minnesota). I'm curious to learn if any of our extended Potucek family has also carried on this tradition or remembers the bread from their childhood.

Thanks and I look forward to your replies/comments. :)

I think someone should do a little research on a Jiri Potucek who was a paratrooper in CZ. I found some interesting information about him. I think there was even a movie made over him and some other soldiers from what I can tell.

Hey everyone! I was doing a little research on the Potucek name and found this blog and saw that my own father wrote on here haha (David F. Potucek). I think it is pretty neat how many there are and I have found quite a few Potucek's on facebook like David said. I'm currently going to Pittsburg State University in Kansas and will graduate in May 2010 with my BBA. I have many cousins in the Wichita area and we are all pretty close. They are all having kids so fast its hard to keep up! It is easy to see how we spread so fast in the U.S. If anyone has a facebook feel free to look me up!
